What we process and why
Contact form and custom quote
Your name, email address and, if you provide them, your phone number, company and message. We use them to answer your question and prepare a quote. Legal basis: the pre-contractual steps you ask for, and our legitimate interest in following up your request. We keep them as long as needed for that follow-up.
Newsletter
Your email address, to occasionally send you news about technologies and materials. Legal basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email or via info@makernaut.be.
Quotes, orders and Maker Rewards (Quotebase)
Calculating prices, ordering and collecting points happen in Quotebase, Makernaut's quoting platform. There we process your account details, orders, billing and delivery address and your points. Legal basis: performing your order and our legal obligations. We keep invoices for 7 years, as accounting law requires.
Your design files
We only use your files to make your parts. FDM and SLA are made in-house; for other technologies, only the production partner making the part receives the file. We sign an NDA on request.
Visitor measurement and company identification
We measure how this website is used, with our own software and without cookies. For every page you open, we record:
- which page, when, and the website or search engine you came from;
- the country and city linked to your internet connection, the type of device, the screen size, and the language and time zone of your browser;
- how long the page was open, how far you scrolled and whether you used a mouse, keyboard or touch screen. This lets us tell real visitors apart from automated programs (bots);
- the organisation behind the network you use. To do this, we look up your IP address, at the moment of the visit, in public registers (the RIPE register and reverse DNS), and then look up that organisation in the Belgian Crossroads Bank for Enterprises. If you browse through the network of a company, school or public body, we see that organisation. If you browse from home or on your mobile plan, we only see your internet provider.
We do not store your IP address. We turn it into a key that changes every day, so we can see which pages belong to the same visit within one day, but we do not recognise you from one day to the next.
Personal links. A link to our website in an e-mail from us can contain a personal code (for example ?r=k7f2q9ab). If you click it, we know it is you and which pages you viewed that day. If you do not want that, remove the code from the address or go to the website directly. If you leave your details in a form, we link them to the pages you viewed that day.
Why: to improve the website and to see which organisations are interested in our services, so we can follow up with them. Legal basis: our legitimate interest. We keep the impact on your privacy as small as possible: no cookies, no stored IP addresses, no recognition across days without a personal link, and we do not sell or share this data. Retention: 13 months. Processors: Cloudflare (hosting and database); look-ups are made with RIPE NCC and Cloudflare DNS. Objection: e-mail info@makernaut.be; we will then delete the data we can link to you.
Who else sees your data
- Cloudflare: website hosting and storage of the visitor measurement.
- Web3Forms: sends the contact and newsletter forms to us by email.
- Base44: the platform Quotebase runs on.
- Production partners: only the file and order details needed to make your part.
- Carriers: name and delivery address, to deliver your parcel.
- Google Fonts: the site's typeface is loaded from Google, which sees your IP address in the process.
We never sell your data.
Your rights
You can access your data, have it corrected or erased, object to processing, have it restricted or request it in a common format. Email info@makernaut.be; we reply within a month. If you are not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be).
